At FetchMasters, our mission is training excellent dogs and excellent owners. Our Level One Obedience course provides a comprehensive foundation for achieving that mission.
This program covers positive reinforcement training theory and basic obedience cues (Sit, Down, Sit-Stay, Down-Stay, Focus, Come, Leave It, Loose-Leash Walking etc...). Depending on your interests and your dog's aptitude and progress, we also may cover some fun games and tricks, or begin working on more complex skills such as heeling and fetching.
This program also touches upon a number of common behavior issues, such as house training, jumping , nipping and mouthing , inappropriate chewing, bolting, begging and respecting boundaries. Other common behavioral issues can be covered on request. The program also covers the basics of dog handling, dog health, and appropriate human-canine interaction.
Level One Obedience is intended for puppies and adult dogs who have little or no training. It is only available in a private lesson format, as the best way to introduce a dog to new commands and behaviors is in a quiet, comfortable environment. It is more productive to introduce distance, distractions and other variables after the dog thoroughly understands what you are asking of him.
If you only put your dog through one training program, the knowledge you gain in our Level One Obedience course will prove to be the best investment you'll make in your relationship with your dog.

Second, we revisit the skills your dog learned in Level One Obedience and introduce distance, duration and distraction to the equation. And third, we start your dog on the FetchMasters Superior Recall Program to train him to come to you when called, despite any distractions vying for his attention.
