Mocha the Chocolate Grandma

Name: Mocha
Breed: Chocolate Labrador Retriever
Age: 14
Location: Animal shelter near Denver, Colorado

Mocha is a sweet, old, grandma Lab. She was recently relinquished to the shelter by her family of 14 years because they had to move. (Yeah, I don't get it either.)

While she is extremely gentle with people, she may not get along well with other dogs. But she would be forever grateful for a soft mat on the floor, a couple of meals a day, and an occasional scratch behind the ears.

Her ideal family would be a gentle, low-key individual or couple. Small children might be a little overbearing for her. I think she'd get by fine with only a few short walks a week. She's pretty low energy.

Her paperwork says she is house trained, and the sooner she is adopted, the more likely she is to remain that way. Despite her advanced years, she is malleable. She was initially very resistant to a head collar, but within 10 minutes she was walking perfectly on the leash.

This is an old dog. Despite her only having a short time left, she desperately needs someone to let her into their home and heart. I'm not trying to be overly emotional here, but shelter life is hard on dogs, and I'm worried it will be too much for Mocha.
